Meet the Craftsman Behind Each Spinner
Earl Hoskins, 68
Retired farmer from Macomb, Illinois. For 44 years he ran the family farm β up at five to start the tractor, last one to close the barn at night. When the land was leased out, Earl went to his workshop instead of sitting still. Today he builds tractor wind spinners by hand, one piece at a time.
βMost garden wind spinners use open sleeve bearings or simple rivets as a pivot point. Sealed ball bearings help keep moisture and debris away from the moving parts, allowing the spinner to turn smoothly with minimal maintenance.β
